Harbor House recognizes that every individual is unique concerning his struggle with addiction and dual disorders. While working on a personalized treatment for each resident, Harbor House realizes that working only with men has advantages for implementing procedures with higher success rates. Some benefits to gender-specific recovery programs include:
- Keeping the focus on yourself without the distraction, and possible attraction to the opposite sex.
- You may find similarities in life experiences with other occupants of Harbor House. Taking part in gender-specific groups promotes stronger bonding, along with more open and honest communication, which furthers the healing process.
- You may find it easier to confide and share your struggles in a gender-specific group setting.
- More time is allowed for gender-specific issues you may be experiencing in a safe and supportive environment.
Programs with Purpose
Your new life of sobriety starts at Harbor House in the residential program. The residential program begins with a seven-day detoxification period, followed by 21 days in the main quarters of Harbor House. Here you will start working with a counselor to establish the best treatment plan for your individual needs. Halfway care is open to those who have completed the residential program. Individuals in halfway care may retain employment while continuing their treatment program. Continuing care meets weekly for all who have completed the residential program. Harbor House strongly encourages family members to attend the weekly group family sessions to help facilitate the healing process. Strengthen your chances of achieving continued sobriety with the life skills educational lectures provided to all residents of Harbor House. Harbor House gives you the resources to reconnect and rediscover life.
